This week, we return to the series Beyond Opinion: The Truth of Jesus.
Feel free to download and use this general slides template as a guide.
The EU continues to encourage faculties to be thinking and praying for people around the world who are Less Reached and Less Resourced (LRLR). For those of you who were at AnCon, we hope this week was a great encouragement and challenge for you to consider how you might serve the LRLR with your skills and resources.
Feel free to ask your faculty members if there are any missionaries or people groups that they have been praying for, and encourage them to share and lead the faculty in prayer at this time.
Alternatively, you can pray for the Tajik people of Afghanistan. They are the second largest people group in the country with a population of over 10 million and currently require 212 pioneer workers. Almost the entire population are Muslim which means that converts to Christianity often face ostracisation from their communities and even from their families.
Some prayer points:
Pray for the Lord to provide many harvest workers in this unreached area of the world
Pray for the Lord to restore political peace and stability to Afghanistan.
Pray that the Christian relief workers will be effective witnesses among the Tajiks despite the apprehensiveness shown to religious outsiders.
Pray that strong local churches will be planted among the Afghani Tajik.
Friendly tip: Feel free to use/modify this prayer or write your own if you feel compelled to do so. Feel free to also pray for your faculty or other prayer points you may have.
Thank God for providing us fellowship, training and growth through the EU and its community. Help us be grateful for all the resources and opportunities we have as Christian students at the University of Sydney.
Pray that God will continue to grow our hearts for evangelism and that He may help us create opportunities to read Uncover Mark with our non-Christian friends.
Pray for wisdom among the EU leaders during this AGM season as they consider who will become next year's leaders.
2 Some Pharisees came and tested him by asking, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?”
3 “What did Moses command you?” he replied.
4 They said, “Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce and send her away.”
5 “It was because your hearts were hard that Moses wrote you this law,” Jesus replied. 6 “But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’ 7 ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, 8 and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one flesh. 9 Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
10 When they were in the house again, the disciples asked Jesus about this. 11 He answered, “Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her. 12 And if she divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery.”
PRE TALK DISCUSSION QUESTION
What would it take for more marriages to stay together?
How does Jesus's death show God's radical faithfulness towards us?
What is precious to you about God's radical faithfulness?
What can we do as a Christian community to support those whose marriages are struggling, or who are separated or divorced?
The Evangelism Network Team has prepared a video for this week about what "Year of Evangelism" has meant to EU'ers. Please also fill out this short Google Form if you were encouraged by this video!
The EU's 90th Year of Evangelism still isn't over yet! Encourage your faculty members to invite their non Christian friends to read Uncover Mark!
A reminder that AGMs are coming up soon (both Faculty AGMs and the EU Executive AGMs)! The EU Executive AGM will be on during Week 5 on Monday at 6 pm.
